A Boatload of Firsts
This past Saturday we took a day trip to the San Juan Islands. As mentioned in the title, there were many firsts (and seconds) for Evangeline:
First ferry ride, though she slept through most of it.
First boat ride and thus first lifejacket, which was about the same size as her!
First trip to the San Juan’s, where she mostly just hung around camp.
First major blowout. Let's just say we won't be using that onesie ever again...
Second boat ride, which was about 10x bumpier than the first (Uncle Doug driving).
Second ferry ride, where she spit up an entire meal’s worth (Thanks Doug!).
That left her hungry and tired, so between Anacortes and Burlington (~20-30 min) we got to experience the most heartbreaking cry we had ever heard. It got so bad, we pulled over at a MacDonald’s to feed her. Since we were there, we decided to get some ice cream, because ice cream makes everything better.
Below are some pictures from the trip. You may need to click on the panoramic to experience it in all its glory. The picture with the benches and cross is from a man-made chapel on Jones Island, which the DeKoekkoeks assisted in building many years ago. The snake is Roger. He slithered into my life that day, but since you're not allowed to take wildlife off the island, he had to stay. Sorry, no Evangeline pictures. They're on my folks camera, but if I wrote that first, no one would bother reading the rest of this. Have no fear, they will be coming!

Still here...
Well, it's been a busy few weeks, so an update seems appropriate. My (Jordan's) sister Erica and her husband Matt came to visit. We went to Chelan, along with the rest of the immediate DeKoekkoek clan (my folks on down). Evangeline went swimming for the first time, kicking her legs and everything. We hit up Leavenworth on the way over. We went to the Scottish Highland games last weekend. This coming weekend we are heading to Jones Island in the San Juan's (baby's first boat ride!). But nothing can top the most important, most significant event of all - Evangeline is sleeping through the night! She's doing 8-10 hours a night consistently! Life is good.
And for what you've all been waiting for... more pictures!!! See the new album to the right.

It's 10 o'clock. Do you know where your children are?
Mine is getting dried off after her bath. Now she's wearing her "So Fresh & So Clean" onesie. How appropriate.
I've posted some more pictures to the album from Evangeline's day at Greenlake. I wasn't threatened with bodily harm this time, just a gentle nudging from the parental unit. The album's getting close to 200 pictures, so I'll create a new one post 2 months old. That way I can actually find a picture without hours of searching for it!
The weather's been pretty hot here lately, (high 70s and 80s - it's 81 in our house right now!) so Evangeline's had a couple days of wearing nothing but a diaper. Sorry, no pictures - we're a family friendly site.
Below is a picture of Evangeline and Geppetto hanging out at Greenlake. It was so hot, they're both panting!

Baptism
Yesterday, Evangeline was baptized at our church. It was also Father's day, so we definitely felt an abundance of blessings. Below are a few highlight photos. Allyson's aunt Trisha made 2 beautiful christening dresses for her. During the baptism, she wore the dress in the middle 2 pictures. But of course, Grandma had to have pictures of the second dress, hence the quaker hat... :)

One Month Old!
Well, we finally got around to baking our birthday cake. We were going to do it when Evangeline was born, but we were a little exhausted then. We figured her one month birthday would suffice. We also busted out the sparkling cider - it was one crazy night, I tell you. Since yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles is Allyson's favorite, we figure it must be Evangeline's, too (though she didn't get to eat any).
Oh yes, and I'm adding a few more pictures to the album.

22 days later
Not much new here, but I thought I should put something up as it's been a couple weeks. Baby still does the baby things - eat, sleep, and poop. Allyson would tell you she does too much of the first, not enough of the second, and just enough of the third (that's probably because I change most of the diapers). They say babies go through a growth spurt at 3 weeks and we think that's the case as she's wanting to eat a lot more than usual. Unfortunately for us, it doesn't always stay down...
