The ultrasound results came back normal, except they didn't get a good enough picture of the cord insertion (umbilical cord going into the baby). So we get to go back for a 3rd ultrasound on Dec 31st. Hopefully we'll get a verification on the gender too, so we can start buying/registering for gender specific things.
Below are the results of the ultrasound. The baby is in breech position, but that is normal this far along. We're told they usually turn between 28 and 34 weeks. I found the BIOMETRY section interesting (measuring fetal age by size of body parts). Here's the secret decoder: BPD-biparietal diameter, HC-head circumference, AC-abdominal circumference, FL-femur length.

BIOMETRY
BPD: 47 mm = 20 W 0 D (+ / - 1.73 Wks)
HC: 175 mm = 20 W 0 D (+ / - 1.48 Wks)
AC: 155 mm = 20 W 4 D (+ / - 2.06 Wks)
FL: 35 mm = 21 W 0 D (+ / - 1.80 Wks)
Average Ultrasound Age: 20 W 2 D (+ / - 1.77 Wks)
EGA calculated using previous ultrasound.
EGA: 21 Weeks 0 days EDD: 25-Apr-2008
IMPRESSION
Size equals dates by previous ultrasound scan. Growth parameters are internally consistent. Cord insertion is not well seen, therefore, follow up US in 2 weeks is recommended to clear fetal anatomy. Otherwise, no structural anomalies identified.

2nd Ultrasound Pictures

She's a Lady!
We had another ultrasound today. They took tons of pictures (of which we only get 2, which I'll post tomorrow). The baby's a lot bigger and as of now it appears she's a girl! Turniphead was very uncooperative and the technician had some trouble determining gender, but settled on female. The technician said she was right about 85% of the time, so those odds are good enough for us. Until we're informed otherwise, the baby can now be referred to as 'she'.

3rd OB Visit
We got to hear the heartbeat again. If you click on the play button above, you can hear it too! Our quad screen test results (test for fetal abnormalities) came back as low risk, which is good as the only other result is high risk. We're also going to try and schedule our next ultrasound next week sometime and see if Turniphead's a he or a she.
