This past Saturday we took a day trip to the San Juan Islands. As mentioned in the title, there were many firsts (and seconds) for Evangeline:
First ferry ride, though she slept through most of it.
First boat ride and thus first lifejacket, which was about the same size as her!
First trip to the San Juan’s, where she mostly just hung around camp.
First major blowout. Let's just say we won't be using that onesie ever again...
Second boat ride, which was about 10x bumpier than the first (Uncle Doug driving).
Second ferry ride, where she spit up an entire meal’s worth (Thanks Doug!).
That left her hungry and tired, so between Anacortes and Burlington (~20-30 min) we got to experience the most heartbreaking cry we had ever heard. It got so bad, we pulled over at a MacDonald’s to feed her. Since we were there, we decided to get some ice cream, because ice cream makes everything better.
Below are some pictures from the trip. You may need to click on the panoramic to experience it in all its glory. The picture with the benches and cross is from a man-made chapel on Jones Island, which the DeKoekkoeks assisted in building many years ago. The snake is Roger. He slithered into my life that day, but since you're not allowed to take wildlife off the island, he had to stay. Sorry, no Evangeline pictures. They're on my folks camera, but if I wrote that first, no one would bother reading the rest of this. Have no fear, they will be coming!
